Band News 09-10-2015

Band Parents,

This is going to be a huge and exciting Friday night! Ooltewah vs East Hamilton!

Here is information for tomorrow:

Band Members must report at 5:00. We will have a short 45-50 minute rehearsal. Then dress for the game.

We will be wearing our costumes!

Band members must have their black tux pants and black marching shoes. If shoes have not arrived we will work it out.

They also must have black socks. We are asking that all band members bring a long sleeve white shirt just in case our Pirate shirts are not ready. They arrived today!

The rest of the costume should be provided.

The game should end around 10:00, so if you are not working at the game – please be here to pick your child up. It will be a long day for many of us.

We have cancelled this Saturday’s camp due to scheduling conflicts with the ACT.

I have attached an updated fall calendar. As I explained at the booster meeting our calendar is a little in flux, so please be patient. The middle school band was told they could not travel in the spring, so their only opportunity is Oct. 24 which was supposed to be a contest date for us. This has caused some minor changes to our calendar. We also expect to make a huge announcement concerning our band in the near future. This will also have some impact on the calendar. Finally, we have been invited to perform as one of only eight (8) high school bands at the Bands of America Regional Concert Band Festival at Georgia State university in Atlanta in March, and are considering an opportunity to travel for a concert exchange this fall. All of this just means our year is getting better and more exciting!

This coming Wednesday, September 16, we will join the Hamilton County Mass Band for a performance in the Chattanooga Remembrance Parade. The parade will be at 2:00 with us returning to school at approximately 4:30, so our Wednesday schedule will not be impacted very much. The band members will be dismissed after lunch that day for the parade.

I want to encourage everyone to help with the raffle sales! This is our largest band fundraiser! Also, please prepare to sell Yankee Candles and Fruit.

We still have slots open to help with the Iron Man race. This will be huge fun and make money for the band. A win-win opportunity! Please sign up or call Sherrie Forrest to let her know you want to help.

We also need your help in the concession stands!

In closing, please let me thank all of you that have been working on props, costumes, concessions, Finley Stadium, Lookouts, hospitality, and all the other things that our boosters do to support our band. We couldn’t do it without your help and support! We NEED everyone!

 Have a fantastic evening!

 Joel
