Mr. Denton’s Announcements
Hello Band Parents,
For the next few weeks, I encourage you to please check your email often and to read all the emails concerning band. You may tire of receiving them and some may be even a little repetitive, but our goal will be to keep you as informed as possible about band happenings and our Macy’s trip.
There was a camp on the schedule for this Saturday. We will NOT be having camp; however, in an effort to better prepare our 7th-9th grade band members for their very important upcoming auditions for All-State East Jr. Band Clinic we will be doing a clinic preparation camp from 9-12. If you have a band member auditioning on November 23 for All-State East, please bring them to the clinic. We will have several teachers here to help along with some of our better high school players. Please note that the audition date changed from Nov. 16 on our calendar to Nov. 23. This was an associational change and was done after we distributed our calendar.
Please keep the next several Fridays available as we will need to have the band at the football playoff games. If we continue to win, there is a possibility that we could have the next three games (including this Friday) at Ooltewah. Knowing that, I AM REQUESTING BAND PARENTS TO BE PREPAPRED TO STEP UP AND HELP OUT AT THE CONCESSION STAND! These have the possibility of being much larger attended games with much greater opportunity for concession sales, so we will need additional help.
I need to advise you of two very important items concerning the playoff games:
Only people working in the concession stand or with the band, and having their names on the approved list will be allowed in the gates without a ticket. It is imperative that your name be on the list, so please make Gwen or Keith aware you will be working. This is a TSSAA rule!
When entering the game, please enter through the pass gate at the end of the track below the band room or though the pass gate at the main entrance to the school (where the band enters). You will not be able to enter through either of the ticketed gates!
The band will report at 5:00 this Friday. I will let you know what they are to wear.
In closing, please remember the Mandatory band booster meeting this coming Tuesday, November 12, in the OHS Commons. Any student going on the Macy’s trip must be present with a parent at this meeting. I will be discussing and distributing very important information concerning the trip. We still have several families that have outstanding balances. We have made every effort to accommodate those needing additional time; however, all accounts must be paid before the trip. If there is a special circumstance, please advise Gwen, Keith, Robin, or me.
I can’t express how pleased and proud I am of our band’s efforts this year! I know I keep saying what an incredible year it is going to be, but let me reemphasize just how wonderful these young people are! Thank you for your support in insuring we have the proper staff to help teach them, the needed equipment for their success, and your help to make it all happen! We are “the little band that can”, and we can because of the incredible support we receive from our band parents (boosters)!
Have a great day!
