Welcome Dr. Ellison!
Dr. Ellison is a Chattanooga native and a graduate of East Ridge high school. Dr. Ellison received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He did a part of his student teaching her at Ooltewah High School.
He then received a Master of Music Conducting from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia where he established the Georgia State University Student Chapter of the National Band Association and served as the chapter’s first president.
He then received his Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Greensboro, North Carolina where he was a nominee for Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award and Music Performance Area Representative to the Graduate Student Association. Along the way, Dr. Ellison also picked up a Bachelor of Science in Religion from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He has taught on the collegiate level as an Assistant Professor of Instrumental Activities at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania where he taught and advised undergraduate music majors and supervised student teachers.
He also conducted the Youth Honors Band (grades 6 – 8) and the Three Rivers youth Wind Ensemble (grades 9 -12) through the Seton Hill Community Music Program. He maintained the university’s instrument inventory. He was the Co-Director of the Seton Hill University Griffin Marching Band. Dr. Ellison is affiliated with but not limited to The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, College Music Society, College Band Directors National Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, and National Band Association, World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, and The National Association for Music Education.
